Yours is wonderful too. It's amazing how a few short days can make all the difference in our writing, our friendship, and our outlook on life.

oh, oh, my friend. Your piece hit me between the eyes. Just this morning I listed in my journal all the distractions that are preventing me from finishing the story I am so passionate about. Yes, lots of things have "gotta give" to make room for my writing. Thank you for the reminder.

We'll have to meet up some day and do a retreat together. If you come to SW Washington, we could even just have a few hours in my writing studio. I have two desks.

I didn’t know about your surgery. I’ll most likely have to have that. I’m sending healing energy.

I love this and the format is great. 👏

Thanks Aleta. It's a pretty easy surgery. A bit fiddly of a recovery with numerous eye drops, wearing an eye shield at night, and no bending down (I had no idea how many times I drop things a day!) Let me know when you get scheduled and I can send you my tips and tricks for recovery!

Oooh I like the essay. I had to laugh, Laura - I have heard Under the Tuscan Sun is a beautiful film, but the book is AWFUL. OMG so boring. It sounds like it is nothing like the film, which is so odd to me. Like..."based on the book" is pretty loose here. Anyway, I have not seen that film but maybe I should. I just hated the book so much - and I read it WHILE IN TUSCANY!!! - that I had a real visceral reaction to the name. Maybe I'll pretend it's called something else. Anyway, this is beside the point, the point being that I really liked your essay!

I'm really happy for you to have those cataracts taken care of. In 2011 I had my varicose veins stripped and at the time I was turning 36. The surgeon took one look at my legs and said "Wow, I've never seen such an advanced case on a woman under 70." Thanks? I'm special! Anyway, I thought you could relate.
