I've made sugar cookies w/Bisquick but not chocolate chip. I'm going to now. That sounds great. What a fun memory of the green mixing bowl and the spattered cookbook. Thanks!
LOVE THIS. You know, I don't think we ever had Bisquick growing up. My mom made baking powder biscuits but I don't remember seeing the Bisquick box. What I do love - I still love them - are those cheaply made recipe books you mention. I get really excited when I see those books of a certain vintage that would be put out with a certain product. Also - and this is very Canadian Prairie - there would be cookbooks put out by churches. I have a Lutheran Ladies Family Favourites book my mom gave me when I moved out. Laura, it is ridiculously funny. OMG so many recipes for jellied salads. Lemon jello and chicken salads. Macaroni and meat salads is an entire category of itself. There is a recipe called Vera's Wiener Pie which is a pie crust filled with sliced wieners and an onion. There is a section called "Ethnic" and it is probably the funniest thing I've seen food-wise. There is a recipe for something called "African Chow Mein" - just let that sit for a moment. Anyway, got off topic here. The point is I don't think I've ever used Bisquick but I sure loved reading about it!

I've never made the sugar cookies. I need to try those. We also love the coffee cake.
I love Bisquick too. The Impossible pies were my go to for a quick easy dinner. Thanks for the memories.

Wow. So many memories came up for me with this piece. The impossible tamale pie seemed like magic to me.
I need to find a copy of that cookbook for my cookbook collection. The recipes sound so fun!
I bought another Bisquick cookbook but it doesn't have all my mom's recipes. I'm not sure where hers got to!
Great cookies,sweet memories, good writing!
