Oh, the Christmas tree pin is so pretty! I was picturing something different in my mind so I am glad you posted the picture. Also that is an awesome picture of you. Thank you for the fun Christmas memory. My grandmother did not have a Christmas pin, as far as I know, but she had a pin shaped like a crown that had all the different birthstones in it and she could point to each Stone and tell you the month and tell you which members of her extended family had birthdays then. It was her pride and joy and I'm sure that she particularly liked wearing it when people would ask about it so that she could go into the whole story. My aunt, her only daughter, has it now. It's funny how those inexpensive pieces of jewelry become priceless given the right associations with memories.
Lovely piece of nostalgia in my mailbox this morning. Thank you! My grandmother had a Christmas tree brooch, too! Her presents were always the most beautiful ones under the tree, and I couldn't wait to open them on Christmas morning -- even when she had me a bit worried because she told me all I was getting were rolls of toilet paper! And, those Lifesavor story books -- wow! I certainly do remember those. Thank you.
I was interested to see who would pick-up on the Lifesaver Storybooks. I think most people who grew up in the 1970s probably have a memory of those. I loved the Butterscotch and the original, colorful fruit rolls the best. Which were your favorite?
Such a beautiful post. Wonderful memories you are treasuring. I love the photo you have shared. Those special items that are handed down to us are always treasured. I have a necklace that was my Granny’s I wear it everyday. A piece of my granny is with me all the time.
Merry Christmas, my friend! I love that you have and wear your grandma's brooch. My grandma used to wear brooches too and I don't know what became of them all. Actually it's funny (Lutheran) because Grandma didn't want to show ANY kind of skin in the chest or chest-adjacent region, so if she deemed a blouse "too revealing" (read: one centimetre of skin showing) she would pin the blouse together with a brooch.

I love that story of your grandmother's pin. Thanks for the compliment on my photo too. Sometimes I can pull myself together and be photogenic. LOL!

Awww, this made me teary-eyed. I love picturing your Grandma smiling every time you put that on. I'm not a pin person, but I would wear this one. :-)

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you, Bruce, and Olivia!
